Emergency Reunification Drill on June 5th at 2 pm - Parent volunteers needed
We will have Drop, Cover and Hold (formerly Earthquake) drill on Friday, June 5th at 2 pm rain or shine. All divisions will gather in the designated area on the basketball court by the playground.
In case, the school building is deemed unsafe for re-entry due to many possible factors (earthquake, gas leak, flooding etc.), students will wait outside with their belongings with their class in a designated area. Parents will be contacted by email and text message. Parents will then be asked to pick up their child(ren) as soon as they can from the basketball court designated area.
For this drill, we are asking for parent volunteers to test our system, rain or shine on Friday June 5th from 2 to 2:30 pm. If you are able to come and pick up your child earlier than usual at 2:10 pm, please email Ms. Vosahlo, principal at rvosahlo@sd38.bc.ca. We are looking for about 10 to 20 volunteers.
We very much appreciate you helping us make our emergency preparedness system run as smoothly as possible. This way, we can also make any adjustments needed in case of real emergencies.
Parent Volunteer Appreciation Honour Band Concert
We would like to invite you to our Honour Band concert in front of our school in the morning on Thursday, May 28th from 8:15 to 8:45 am weather permitting. This is to show our gratitude for all you do for our school year-round. Your fantastic support and organization of amazing events is what makes Diefenbaker School community an exciting place for our families. We look forward to seeing you there!!
Walkathon Reminder from PAC
Walkathon pledge forms are due today!! If you forgot to send yours in, you can still hand it in on Monday. Our Walkathon takes place on Tuesday, May 26 and is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Families are welcome to come cheer on the students as they walk through the neighbourhood in support of our school community around 1PM!
PAC AGM Reminder
All parents and guardians are invited to attend the PAC Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, May 27 at 6PM in the Diefenbaker Library. We need to fill several PAC executive volunteer positions (secretary, co-treasurer, member-at-large) for next year, so this is a great opportunity to get involved, meet other families, and support our school community. We hope to see some new faces there!
Have a great May weekend,
Mr. Pantaleo and Ms. Vosahlo
