Rainbow crosswalk at Diefenbaker School

It is the mission of the Richmond School District as stated in its Strategic Plan in the Priority 2, Equity and Inclusion, to ensure that all our students, families and staff feel welcomed and have a sense of belonging free of discrimination. 

Two years ago, Diefenbaker Student Leadership team, school staff and Parent Advisory Council engaged in discussions about having a Rainbow Crosswalk installed at our school to further express our desire for equity and inclusion in our school community.

This summer of 2024, our application was accepted and the Rainbow crosswalk will be installed between the school building and the parking lot.

We are proud of this initiative as the school community that values diversity, equity and inclusion as our school story and goal.
